Smart Water Meter

Smart water meter with leak detection dashboard and usage analytics.

Project Overview

Hydrologic was a smart water meter project for University Housing that provided real-time leak detection dashboards and per-shower water usage analytics in dormitories.

The system ingests flow data via an API, preprocesses it locally through an ESP-32 module, and streams embeddings to a central dashboard where administrators can monitor consumption and detect leaks proactively.

Battery-operated with a two-week lifespan, this IoT solution was funded by a $10,000 grant from the Student Sustainability Committee and built using Firebase, C++, and ESP-32.

Key Features

  • Real-time leak detection dashboard for administrators
  • Individual shower usage analytics in dorms
  • Up to two weeks of battery life

Technologies Used
